Re: CLOSURE TIME IS RUNNING OUT
Sat, July 19, 2008 - 10:12 PMStalking Update
Pay special attention to this:
"Defamation of character or insults.
Stalkers often try to isolate their victims from family and friends. They release character-damaging information, regardless of whether it is true or not, in hopes of ostracizing the victim from those closest to her. When hurtful or damaging information is made public, your first reaction may be to retreat or withdraw from the public eye. This is exactly what the stalker wants. Instead, fight character defamation and public insults vehemently. If there is truth to the information, accept responsibility quickly and tell your side of the story. The important thing is to maintain your presence within your normal circles and not isolate yourself from support systems that could help you in the event your stalker moves closer."
Reference: www.lifescript.com/channels...alked.asp
And this:
"False accusations. Many cyberstalkers try to damage the reputation of their victim and turn other people against them. They post false information about them on websites. They may set up their own websites for this purpose. They post allegations about the victim to newsgroups and chat rooms."
Reference: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyberstalking
Addressing those lies and exaggerations in public only seems to get ME in trouble. So I can't do it. Tribe.net won't allow it. They will allow Cyberstalking and harassment and trolling. But they will not allow anyone to defend themselves. And we all know the reasoning behind that, don't we?
brainstorm.tribe.net/thread/...70ea0c22
The place is controlled by a former troll. No wonder trolls are happy and scampering about with no fear.
And this is even better:

Indicative of the NEW and IMPROVED Tribe.net.

Re: CLOSURE TIME IS RUNNING OUT
Sun, July 20, 2008 - 10:47 AMWho are these monsters here? I'm just weird.
I do not see how it emphasizes global hopelessness. There are people that are now able to communicate with other people they would never have met otherwise. Like you and I.
And even if it spreads a lot of stupidity and hatred and people look like monsters to you, it actually does something positive too. It does make for a world connection.
What if EVERYONE on the planet HAD to have a friend in every other country? So that every single person in France had ONE friend they chat with in the U.S. and visa versa. Following me? Seeing where I'm going?
Since we ALL have French friends, we have a personal connection to that area. A POSITIVE connection.
Would that perhaps end or prevent wars? Would that possibly end or prevent hunger or lack of medicine? Would that possibly help with global warming?
Who here would vote for a war or start one, if they had a bunch of friends there? How could anyone go to war and kill the people they care about? Don't bomb that area, because I have friends there. Well, don't attack this other area either, because that's where my neighbor's friends live.
Even if people are assholes themselves and have asshole friends, they are still friends to each other, and they probably wouldn't want to bomb or kill their friends. They probably wouldn't feel so great about knowing their friends were starving or that their friends kids were dying from no medical treatment.
People do think they are the center of their own universe. But if we all realized that we all feel that way, and got to know that all of us require food and water and shelter. We need most of the same things, we are not so different.
So I know that it's kind of the wild west online in these days, I do hope that it can bring about positive change in the future. -

Sun, July 20, 2008 - 11:08 AM>I guess you can't quite follow what is going on, out of context, yeah?
What was even stranger was, for some reason I seem to have accidentally hit a link to what turned out to be TOU Watchdog. And it was a lot of the same stuff, except Travis was chiming in. And I was all OMG, WTF? When did Travis show up here? And then it all became a whirl of verbiage, Republicans and meat.
And then I woke up.
I am going to go back to digging up a garden bed and hauling flat rocks up from the creek to make a path. It's horrible, sweaty work, but better than the gym, plus I get to pretend that I am a survivor on Lost as I bushwhack through the woods. -

Re: CLOSURE TIME IS RUNNING OUT
Sun, July 20, 2008 - 11:47 AMYeah, a link was posted back to there from here, just in case I didn't see it over there, I guess.
It's typical and an example of my complaints. No discussion, no negotiation, no consideration. His way only.
That sounds wonderful, to be able to have a creek nearby. Can you hear it babbling from where you live?
One thought for you...well, a bunch...
Do you have an old sack or sheet? You can pull more than you can carry. So you could do a few more rocks per trip.
Be aware of what you are doing to the creek. Which sounds really stupid. But, if you start pulling large flat rocks away, that exposes smaller rocks and dirt, usually. And when the rains come, the dirt will be washed away as well as small stones, until it has gone back to big exposed rocks.
The problem occurs when the small rocks and dirt are swept away leaving nothing supporting the edge, causing the edge to collapse. This very thing, rain on rocks caused our road to collapse in three or four places early this year.
A few years back it happened so suddenly that a couple cars ended up in the twenty foot deep cave in of one side of the road.
It makes for mudslides too, if you are above this creek, you do not want to slide down to it.
yes, I'm a pain in the ass, and I worry about things that haven't happened and might not ever happen to YOU. It happens in this area a lot. They expect Devil's Slide to collapse every single year, and because it does, they have signs permanently installed that can be flipped to open and show that the road is closed beyond a certain point.
Here is a picture of the road on Devil's Slide a couple years back:
www.nytimes.com/2006/04/27...7slide.html
This one shows a side view:
3dparks.wr.usgs.gov/landslide/big/24.htm
And this is the overhead, showing the proposed tunnel, you can see the squiggly road next to the coastline:
www.dot.ca.gov/dist4/dslide/
The first image with the cracked road? Our road doesn't just crack, it disappears. It's just not there anymore. Into the lake.
And a cool path ain't gonna do nobody no good if the house is in the creek.

Re: CLOSURE TIME IS RUNNING OUT
Sun, July 20, 2008 - 2:54 PMThanks for the tips, True.
And yeah, I'm being careful of the creek ecosystem. I'm not really taking that many rocks. Dragging things in a sack is a good idea--though the woods down there is pretty messed up with fallen trees, bamboo and dense vines, so I'll have to see if that's even possible.
I can't quite hear the creek from the house, but it's a short walk through a forest path. There used to be a bunch of neighborhood kids who rode their bikes through there, but they don't anymore because some trees fell across their path. Going down there for the first time there this year, I discovered that the path had nearly grown over. Preteen boys on bicycles, as it turns out, are a valuable part of the local ecosystem too. -

Re: CLOSURE TIME IS RUNNING OUT
Sun, July 20, 2008 - 4:29 PMI used to walk through a forest to get to the old school (before the new one was built) when I was kid. I so enjoyed the path, and often went off the path, following the animals paths. I still do that sometimes.
I am glad you are careful. It's so strange sometimes, how we think we aren't doing anything, when we end up doing something that is a big deal to something else.
I remember walking along a dusty road on a hillside near a reservoir. There were plenty of rocks, everywhere, but for some reason, I felt the urge to pick up one particular rock. I did. And two lizards ran out. I ruined their home, their shelter from the sun. I didn't mean to. I didn't even know they were there.
Then I wondered if all the rocks harbored lizards. So I peeked under some others, no lizards. Just that one rock, that I was drawn to, was a shelter.
I use as an example "What if everyone did it?" It is one of my philosophies. If everyone picked the pretty flowers, there would be no flowers to walk by, to smell their wonderful scent or enjoy their beauty. And if the flowers are not there, they will not make new seeds, new plants, new life.
I know it's a few rocks, but if everyone did it, there would be no rocks, maybe no creek. Unless you're in one of those really rocky areas. Like with so many rocks that people build houses and fences out of them:
ctein.com/Scotland_Plate_07.jpg
Wow, weird stuff that comes up in image searches...check out this genuine photo of a huge snake that was caught in an electric fence, and upon being opened up, there was an Impala ewe:
www.bushveld.co.za/pictures-python.htm
(found via: www.hoax-slayer.com/issue-71.shtml )
And then there's this bra fence:
"The local council determined the bra fence was a 'traffic hazard' and early in 2006 they removed over 200 bras. In September 2006 they removed the rest - over 1500!"
intelligenttravel.typepad.com/it/...html
(found via intelligenttravel.typepad.com/it/...html )
Say, maybe you should make a bra path?

Re: CLOSURE TIME IS RUNNING OUT
Sun, July 20, 2008 - 5:43 PMThey are rather sluglike, except that they latch, very hard, with their sucker mouths on tender skin, and suck happily away at your vital juices. My friend was pretty sore for awhile. She was a weird person for such a spectacularly revolting thing to happen to, because she was always so prissy and disapproving of everything in grad school.
Apparently though, they're very valuable in medical situations as an anticoagulant. Maggots are apparently useful too, for eating away at gangrenous flesh safely and effectively.
